WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY CHILD FOR THE SEASON?
Glove/Mitt:
For divisions above T-Ball we recommend considering a quality leather glove, but most importantly not a cheap vinyl glove. Often the lesser quality gloves are difficult for kids to open up and shut when it comes to play catch and fielding fly balls. Also make sure the glove is appropriate size for your child. Often we see gloves that are too small for the level of play, or in fact too large.
Bat/Helmet:
The league will supplies all levels with helmets and bats. However in older division, it's not uncommon that parents/kids elect to bring their own.
Cleats:
We live in Oregon, and it's recommended kids wear cleats, especially older divisions. However, it's not a requirement until Majors. During Spring we experience quite the variety of weather and often there can be slick conditions where cleats are your best friend.
Softball (Mask) and Catchers Mask (throat guard):
Please be advised that currently Little League does not mandate the use of face masks for softball players defensively in the field. However TCLL will provide two face masks per team for pitchers. All TCLL Softball helmets are equipped with face masks, but again are not required by LL. In addition, any player purchasing their own equipment must ensure that it meets LL guidelines.
Uniforms (Pants/Socks/Jersey/Hat):
The league will always supply each kid, at every level, with jersey/shirt and hat/visor. Socks and belts are provided to first year players. Pants are not provided. Pants at lower divisions should be "baseball" or "uniform" pants as they are most suitable for the activities throughout the season. Upper divisions we suggest buying softball and baseball pants. Uniform jersey/shirt colors per team are not determined until we form teams, verify sizes and place our order for all of our uniforms. At that point we will notify coaches of their respective colors. That can often aide in parents knowing what pant color they wish to purchase. For older divisions, often coaches will talk to their own team about a certain color preference.
